Choosing a designer can be difficult: one can receive estimates that vary wildly, and it can be hard to know who to put your trust in. After all, “design” is only one element of any project; there are a host of other factors, such as scheduling, budget management, communication and print buying that are all essential to the successful completion of a project.
When asked to quote for a project I will usually discuss your needs over the telephone in order to produce a ballpark quote.
We would then meet to develop the creative brief and you will be provided with a detailed quote, schedule and other materials which help to ensure the project runs smoothly.
But it’s not only about design. I have strong editorial skills, accuracy and attention to detail enable me to spot and correct errors before they go to print. I care about en-rules and hyphens. I pay great attention to detail, often spotting mistakes or inconsistencies that clients haven’t noticed. For this reason, proofreading and copy-editing is always included as part of the service (and we have many a grateful client to show for this!)
I have good relationships with printers and will identify the best print provider for the job in question, to match both specification requirements and budgets. My preferred print suppliers provide high quality, environmental printing.
I will also offer you ways to improve the environmental footprint of your publication, for example, by considering waterless technology for your printing, and using recycled and FSC-certified paper.
I also offer illustration, picture research, photographic touchups and print-buying.
